A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness.

Bright Star.

One of the greatest films I have seen in a long time. I have been waiting for this to come in through my Netflix for months and I just finished watching it, literally 10 minutes ago. John Keats was always one of my favorite poets, and this movie made me love him even more (it helps that he is played by Ben Whishaw) Everything about it was done impeccably. The cinamatagrophy, the costumes, character developement, acting, set design... it was all beautiful. I sure many of you have seen this film already considering it has been out for a little while now. I watched the special features and listening to Jane Campion talk about the film was wonderful. She has such insight and intelligence and told the story of John Keats beautifully. This movie especially is so great to me because I think what it really gets across in the end is the importance of intimacy and connection. Just the other day I was thinking about how much I miss talking to people on the phone. I sometimes wish I didn't have texting because I miss actually hearing the sound of someone's voice, their fluxation of sounds and tones of sarcasism. People talk about how technology connects us but in actuallity, I feel as if it does the opposite. Not being able to hear the way people talk about.. whatever they are talking about.. does quench the communication between two people. Like facial expressions, the undertone in someone's voice can portray something completely opposite of what they are actually saying, which is lost in a text; if they are speaking of something they are passionate about, or sad, or angry. That is what I got from this film and I cried my eyes out at the end. Go see it.

I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections, and the truth of imagination.

- John Keats
